About the Club
Children begin their gymnastics with us as pre-school or recreational gymnasts in classes that are mixed boys and girls. Our aim is to provide your child with enjoyment in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere whilst learning gymnastic skills at a ‘recreational’ level. Children develop skills such as balance, coordination, integration and confidence as they work through various Award Schemes administered by the British Gymnastics Association.
Gymnastics is great fun and provides a foundation for many other sports. It can be used as a stepping stone in preparing the child to participate and succeed in all types of sporting events. It teaches many of the basic skills children will require in later life, such as discipline, socialising, team spirit and confidence building.
We are not a competitive club, however we do hold our annual Club Championships during the summer term each year. We have classes for boys and girls from the age of three upwards. There are sessions to suit all needs, from the beginner to the more advanced gymnast. Our members participate in small groups with experienced coaches. Your child will have a personal coach for the duration of each course in order for his/her progress to be constantly monitored.
British Gymnastics is the governing body for the sport. It has created programmes for coaches to learn to teach the fundamental gymnastic skills from babies to adults.
Farnham Leisure Centre
Farnham Gymnastics Club has been running classes at Farnham Leisure for more than 30 years. We have sessions for a wide variety of ages from 3.5 years upwards. Our classes for boys and girls run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and times can be seen on our 'Classes' page. We train in the main hall which is a large space, the size of 3 badminton courts. Our members enjoy their sessions using a variety of apparatus. We have trampets, vaulting horses, floor areas, balance beams of different heights, mini asymetric bars and a 12ft air tumble track which is a firm favourite with the children!
Parents are not permitted in the hall whilst classes are in progress but the leisure centre has a cafeteria in the foyer that serves hot and cold food and drinks. Here you can enjoy an hour of peace whilst we entertain your children! However if your little one is unsettled to begin with, we will of course, not ask you to leave the hall.
Parents can leave the building to go shopping in Farnham but we must have a mobile number that we can contact you on if needed.
Our uniform at the leisure centre for the girls is a royal blue leotard with sparkly diamanté. These can be ordered from a link on the ‘uniform’ page. We also have club T shirts, sweatshirts and holdalls that are purchased through the club. We have a team of 15 enthusiastic coaching assistants who take the children through their paces and guide them through a variety of awards that are designed by ‘British Gymnastics’. Our main focus is to give your child a fun, safe and caring environment to enjoy our wonderful sport of gymnastics.
St Polycarp's School
Farnham Gymnastics Club at St Polycarp's school. These classes are offered to St Polycarp's students only. At present we have more than 100 children taking part in these classes and we have a running waiting list. If your child attends St Polycarp's and you are interested in him/her being part of the school gymnastics team please contact the club.
