The Rural Life Centre

The Rural Life Living Museum collects, conserves and showcases the history and culture of village life in the countryside.

The Rural Life Centre is set in over ten acres of garden and woodland, housed in purpose-built and reconstructed buildings including a chapel, cricket pavilion and school room.

Numerous events are held throughout the year from donkey days out to Weyfest. See the museum’s events calendar for details.

Old Kiln Light Railway

Take a ride on Surrey’s only industrial 2ft gauge railway, owned and operated by a group of volunteers who have collected diesel and steam locomotives, rolling stock, as well as other narrow gauge relics. The railway operates on Sundays (during the main season only) and on Activity Thursdays, please see event calendar for dates. https://oldkilnlightrailway.co.uk/

The railway will be running for our Christmas Craft Fair and Vintage Christmas events.  Social distancing measures are in place.

The Rural Life Living Museum has over 30 buildings distributed over ten acres of fields and woodlands. We offer the perfect opportunity to hold your event from that perfect rustic wedding celebration to hosting corporate events in a relaxed atmosphere.
